The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 place duties on businesses to maintain safe electrical systems. Inspection and testing help identify faults and provide a record of condition. That record can also support the evidence requested by an insurer.

Fixed Wire Testing (Commercial EICR)
An EICR assesses the building’s fixed installation, including wiring and distribution boards. Five years is a common maximum inspection interval for offices and shops, but the appropriate frequency depends on the premises and risks. Some leisure buildings need checks more often.
PAT Testing
Kettles, power tools and office computers are among the appliances we check through PAT testing. We label each item and record the results in a register, giving you an organised record to share with your insurer.

How often does a commercial building need an EICR?
For offices and shops, an interval of up to five years is commonly recommended, with the need for testing also reviewed when occupancy changes. Leisure premises and buildings with swimming pools can need more frequent inspection. The installation’s condition and use determine the appropriate interval.
Will testing disrupt my business?
We’ll discuss the planned power interruptions before any testing starts. Work can be divided into stages or booked outside your normal hours, including weekends, to fit around the way your business operates.
Do you carry out the remedial work too?
Yes. You’ll receive a fixed quote explaining the remedial work after the inspection. Once the repairs are complete, we provide the relevant updated certification.
