Check the condition of your workplace appliances and keep an organised record of the results for your business and insurer.

Damaged or defective electrical equipment can cause injury or fire. Portable appliance testing, usually shortened to PAT, helps identify some of those faults. Used with visual checks and suitable maintenance, it helps businesses manage the safety of the equipment people use.
Businesses, schools and landlords across Beds, Herts & Bucks use our PAT service for offices, shops, warehouses and rental properties. We can visit outside normal working hours to help avoid interrupting staff or customers.
We check plug-in equipment such as computers, kettles, monitors, printers, power tools and extension leads. The inspection starts with a visual check. Electrical tests, including earth continuity, insulation and polarity where relevant, depend on the appliance and its design.

We give each appliance a result label and record it in an asset register, together with the next scheduled test date. You can use that register when dealing with a landlord, auditor or insurer.

There is no single testing interval that suits every appliance. An office monitor faces different risks from a power tool on a building site. We can help you plan checks around the equipment, how it is used and the environment it operates in.

A straightforward problem with a plug or fuse can often be dealt with during the visit. You can also arrange PAT as part of our maintenance packages, together with lighting checks and commercial EICRs.

Arranging appliance testing for a business or rental property? Start here for answers about your responsibilities, failed items and fitting the checks around your working day.
Employers must maintain electrical equipment to prevent danger. The law does not prescribe PAT for every item or a universal annual test. Checks should reflect the risks and how equipment is used; your insurer may also set requirements.
You’ll be told promptly, and the item will be marked as failed so it can be taken out of service. Where the cause is something straightforward, such as a worn plug or unsuitable fuse, we can often repair it there and then.
Most items need to be disconnected for only a few minutes. We can arrange testing around your staff or visit before opening or after closing to help minimise interruption.
Our priority is safe electrical work. You’ll be dealing with fully insured electricians with City & Guilds qualifications and NAPIT registration. We are also listed on the Register of Competent Persons (Electrical). To hear how customers rate the work and service, take a look at our 5 star reviews.
