An LED spotlight can use around 80–90% less electricity than a comparable halogen. We check that the fittings, dimmers and any transformers work with the chosen LEDs, helping avoid compatibility problems such as buzzing or flickering.

Your Lighting Questions Answered
From choosing an LED replacement to finding the reason for a flicker, lighting can raise more questions than you expect. Here are answers to some of the issues customers bring to us most often.
Can I replace my halogen spotlights with LEDs?
Often, yes: an LED GU10 can normally replace a halogen GU10, provided the lamp and any dimmer are compatible. With common low-voltage MR16 fittings, the transformer may also need changing. We’ll inspect what you have and advise on suitable replacements.
Why do my new LED lights flicker?
An incompatible dimmer or transformer is a common cause, especially after changing from halogen bulbs. A suitable LED-compatible replacement will often resolve it. If the problem persists, the fitting or wiring may need further investigation.
Do I need an electrician to fit a new light?
We recommend a qualified electrician for fitting new lights safely. New circuits and lighting alterations must meet the relevant wiring requirements, with the appropriate testing and certification. Bathrooms and outdoor installations need particular care.
How do I know I'm making the right choice in choosing EMAY Electrical?
