EMAY Electrical has the experience and the necessary know-how to get your vehicle charger installed safely & efficiently.
It's no secret that the biggest challenges of owning an electric vehicle lie within battery life and charging. Whilst public chargers certainly serve a purpose, relying completely on them can be risky to say the least!
The amount of public charging stations will only increase over time, but for now, they're not always easy to find and use. Of course tools like Zap Map make things easier, but it only takes a few minutes to realise how scarce charge points are in the uk. Particularly, in Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes! For now, home charging is the best way to reduce your range anxiety!
Electrical work can often seem daunting for homeowners. When you commission EMAY Electrical to install at your property, you’re partnering with a local company that cares about quality and value. The electrical world is full of ever-changing regulations, innovations, and ultimately, questions. We’re always happy to share our professional knowledge & expertise.
The answer is mostly, yes – However, there are a number of specific considerations that must be taken into account when installing an EV charger. For instance, some chargers require special wiring or grounding techniques which may not be available with all types of installations. It’s also important to make sure the power supply is adequate for the type of charge needed by your particular vehicle model before attempting any installation yourself or hiring an electrician who isn’t familiar with this type of work.
Homeowners are entitled to install a charging point for their electric vehicle on their own property without first seeking permission. As is the case with any new circuit, installing an electric car charger would be classed as “notifiable” works by your local council. When our installers register an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for the work, this would usually be done automatically. When installing a new electric vehicle charging device, you must also notify the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) that supplies your power.
Typically, we can install an EV charger within one day and we’re confident we’ll be able to beat any quote directly from manufacturers!
We install chargers for the most popular brands including Tesla. We do not supply Tesla chargers, we only fit them.
